Greetings from the University Ministry
This year our role on campus will be to seek
Christ and to share Him with others through providing physical, social,
and emotional needs for UNC (and other college) students. I am thrilled
to be working alongside all of you in this endeavor at UBC, and as a
graduate of UNC in the class of 2008, I look forward to making a new
connection to the university I have come to love. After graduating
Kings Mountain High School in 2004, I attended UNC-Chapel Hill as a
Teaching Fellow and graduated with a major in Middle Grades Education.
For the past three years I have taught middle school social studies and
language arts in Kings Mountain, Roxboro, and Durham, NC, and will
continue to teach middle school social studies and coach football at
Carrington Middle School in Durham this coming year. I also take a good
amount of time playing, singing, and beaching, as well as fitting a good
baseball/football game into my schedule. I look forward to working with
students of all ages this fall and spring, and am quite excited about
the opportunities that Christ has laid before us in the coming months.
As we enter this year, please be in prayer for students as they return
to things old and new in their lives. Also be in prayer about the some
of the upcoming events that we have planned for students, which are
listed below:
Feb. 5
- Super Bowl Party: all college students are invited to Shawn and Katie
Evans' house for a Super Bowl Party at 6 pm. Meet at church at 5:30 to
go together!
Feb. 11 & 25 - Habitat for
Humanity Service Ministry Opportunities. Come to UBC at either 8 am or
12 pm. Further details to come!
Feb. 15 - College Pizza
Night at 5:15pm and Bible Study at 6 in the Great Hall.
Stay on the lookout
in the bulletin and future newsletters for upcoming events and news
about the University Ministry at UBC, and also feel free to contact me
