In Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Chapel Hill, NC

At University Baptist Church, we believe that fellowship extends beyond the walls of our own sanctuary; it is rooted in relationship, history, and a shared call to love.

Each year, we gather with our sister church, First Baptist Church of Chapel Hill, for worship, fellowship, and a shared meal. In the Fall, First Baptist joins us at UBC; in the Spring, UBC visits FBC. Our gatherings together represent our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, community, and shared faith across generations.

First Baptist Church was organized on September 3, 1865, out of what was then The Baptist Church of Chapel Hill, now University Baptist Church. Over time, our congregations have remained connected, both committed to walking forward in love, friendship, and mutual support. Learn more about the history of First Baptist Church here and how our congregations journey together on our Chapel Hill & Beyond Walk page.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship

We are part of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of NC, a network of churches and people of faith committed to following Jesus with compassion and courage. Through our connection, we participate in shared ministries, missions, and learning opportunities. For more information about CBFNC, check out their webpage here

We are also the Chapel Hill gathering place for Cooperative Baptist Student Fellowship (CBSF)—a weekly space, during university semesters, for college students to build community, explore faith, and grow together. For more information about the Chapel Hill CBSF gathering at UBC, please visit our College Ministry page.
