Chin Families
About 20 families, originally from Chin State in Myanmar, gather at UBC. Some of those families are part of the UBC congregation and worship with us on Sunday mornings. They also have worship and children’s activities in Burmese on Sunday nights. UBC provides support to these families by donating furniture, clothes and other items such as back-to-school supplies.
-
Chinese Scholars
The Chapel Hill Chinese Christian Church meets in the UBC Community Room for worship on various days throughout the year. They also have a Friday night ministry aimed at scholars from UNC and Duke visiting from China. This is an opportunity for these visitors to learn about Christ in a free environment. Children and Youth Bible activities also gather on Friday nights.

Clothing Closet
The UBC Clothes Closet is a clothing ministry for anyone in our church but is specifically focused on the children of our Chin families. The closet started in 2011 from the idea that many of the American families were handing down and sharing clothes with each other. We wanted to extend our sharing to the Chin families. We share clothes and needed items three times a year- at Christmas, Easter, and at back-to-school time in August.
If you have a child age 0 to 18, we would be grateful for your outgrown clothes. If you have neighbors or family members with children, we would be grateful for their outgrown clothes. If you are not connected with children during this season of your life, we would be grateful for you to spend a bit of time thrift store shopping, donating a bit of money, or working upstairs to sort and organize clothing.
